Former West Indies batsman dies in crash

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Monday March 5, 2012 – Former West Indies middle order batsman Runako Morton is dead.

The 33-year-old cricketer, originally from Nevis, died in a vehicular accident last night while on his way home from a cricket game around 11 p.m.

He was the sole occupant in the car which crashed into a utility pole on the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Chase Village, central Trinidad.

Morton played 15 Test matches, 56 One-day internationals and seven Twenty20s for the West Indies since making his international debut in 2002.
