PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, Monday November 1, 2010 – A rich morning of poetry, fashion and pampering was what cancer survivors were treated to at the annual Cancer Survivor breakfast on Monday October 25th which is in its third year.
This very beautiful celebration has been made possible for the last three years by the efforts of Ms. Brafit Limited – A Lifestyle company which looks after the Post Mastectomy needs of women, Hyatt Trinidad Hotel and the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society.
The guests are selected from Cancer Support groups throughout Trinidad and Tobago and this event is collaboration among the three organizations (Hyatt Trinidad, Ms. Brafit Limited and Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society) whose roles are diverse yet purpose is common.
Hyatt Trinidad provides the complete hospitality experience.
Nicole Joseph-Chin, author of Treatment Companion©, creator of Beauty Beyond the Bruises© Programme and CEO of Ms. Brafit Limited provides a keen level of support and is the mastermind behind each year’s theme whilst assisting with the programme planning and logistics; via working closely with each of the parties who are responsible for this highly anticipated annual event.
Augusta St. Louis of the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society provides her expertise in putting together a lovely programme each year along with the logistics to ensure a smooth and tight programme compact with lovely segments.
Each year, the invitees are selected from the many support groups, ensuring that a new group of survivors is allowed the opportunity to attend each year.
The contingent from Tobago ferries over to Trinidad to be a part of this very well organized event and nothing is spared by the Hyatt Trinidad to ensure there is a maximum level of comfort for each guest.
This year the winner of the coveted Hyatt door prize was a survivor from Tobago who will be spending an all expenses week end at the Hyatt Trinidad.
As is customary, Ms. Brafit Limited supplied door prizes which included gift vouchers for personalized fittings, post mastectomy/surgical products and body care/image management products.
This year’s event was bigger and better as survivors graced the stage in casual, evening and sport wear. These models tossed all caution to the wind and enjoyed every minute of stardom to encourage their peers to enjoy the Beauty Beyond the Bruises©.
A poetry reading segment showcased yet another side of the multiplicity of talent in the room as survivors shared their stories in verse and gained the support of their peers in rendering their pride to be survivors. A circle of Hope was formed to observe a minute silence for those who have departed and this very powerful gesture which was done towards the end was a very clear indication of the sharing and care these groups are so very filled with.
The organizers of this esteemed event look forward to yet a bigger and better event in 2011 as the survivors take centre stage and celebrate with purpose.
