ICC Delays World Cup 2007 Ticket Launch

Hardbeatnews, NEW YORK, N.Y., Tues. Aug. 30, 2005: Cricket fans looking to secure tickets for the International Cricket Council World Cup 2007 will have to wait another month for details on availability and costs.

ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007 Inc., have delayed the announcement by another month; from late August to late September.

Earlier this month, Marvia Roach, corporate communications director of ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007 Inc., said the organizers are currently finalizing details of the ticketing policy, application process and sale dates and details will be announced at the planned press conference.

So far Cricket Logistics 2007, a UK-based company, has been selected as the sole official tour operator for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, following an open tender process that closed in April 2005.

Chris Dehring, managing director and CEO of ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007 Inc., explained that the selection means the company will be the sole source of match tickets sold as part of a tour and travel or hospitality package for the Cup. They will also manage all travel and accommodation arrangements for participating teams, officials and event sponsors.

Meanwhile, Jamaica has snagged the first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup. The first match of the tournament is slated for Tuesday March 13, 2007 at the newly renovated Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica between Group D competitors, the West Indies and Pakistan.

The tournament will see 51 One-Day International matches over a 59-day period. – Hardbeatnews.com
