Caribbean Airlines scare

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, February 28, 2007 – Smoke from the tail of the “new” Caribbean Airlines Limited caused a brief scare Monday on a flight enroute to Trinidad from Jamaica.

Eighty-four passengers and six crewmembers aboard the craft were, however, safely evacuated after the plane touched down at the Piarco Airport.

No injuries were reported and a company spokesperson said the aircraft had since resumed operations.

CAL replaced the debt ridden BWIA on Jan. 1, 2007 and is touting itself as a new and improved carrier. (Copyright Hardbeatnews.com)
