HAVANA, Cuba, Tuesday May 30, 2017 – Americans can now book hotels in Cuba online.
Online travel services company Expedia had started offering bookings, joining the dozens of US airlines and cruise operators entering the Cuban market since former President Barack Obama eased travel and trade restrictions.
Before now, Americans for the most part had to reserve Cuban hotels through travel agencies or tour groups.
A range of hotels and bed and breakfasts options are now available on Expedia.com. And customers can pay online at the time of booking.
“We’ve been working around the clock with Cuban hoteliers to offer this iconic, culture-rich destination to our global consumers, with the added convenience of online booking through a trusted travel partner,” Demetrius Canton, director of Caribbean market management for Expedia, told Fox News.
Expedia’s announcement came last week on the heels of the opening of Cuba’s first ultra-luxury hotel – the 246-room Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski La Habana.
