ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, Friday March 31, 2017 — Grenada will celebrate its 30-year partnership with British Airways (BA) tomorrow.

Thirty years ago, the partnership between Pure Grenada and British Airways began with the inaugural flight landing at the then Point Salines International Airport on April 1, 1987. At that time, BA provided one weekly flight. Today, the number of flights has increased to two per week.

“British Airways plays a significant role in Grenada’s tourism industry as one of the consistent carriers to and from the UK, which is the island’s second largest source market,” the Grenada Tourism Authority said.

Even more reason to celebrate, it added, is the fact that three of the island’s hotels that partner with BA are also celebrating 30 years of operation this year – Spice Island Beach Resort, Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel and Spa and Coyaba Beach Resort.

Tomorrow’s commemoration ceremony will be held at the Maurice Bishop International Airport to coincide with the scheduled BA flight.
