Sandals Barbados welcomes first guests following US$65 million renovation project

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Wednesday February 4, 2015 – Kelly and Janet Rumpf from Saskatchewan, Canada had the honour of being the first guests to check in to the newly reopened Sandals Barbados on Wednesday, January 28.

The Rumpfs were one of four couples who were the first to experience the newest addition to the Sandals chain.

Following an extensive US$65 million renovation project, the resort features a selection of 280 luxury accommodations set within three distinct villages: Ocean Village, Crystal Lagoon Village and Caribbean Village. The villages range from opulent beachfront butler suites to new swim-up river suites situated in the resort’s lush tropical garden.

The new resort features 11 gourmet Discovery Dining choices featuring the chain’s first ever Indian restaurant Bombay Club and options that span the globe from French Brasserie at Bayside, Japanese Teppanyaki at Kimonos to a world class steakhouse, Butch’s Chophouse. In addition, the resort’s bars serve premium brand spirits, including Appleton Jamaica Estate Rum, and six varieties of Robert Mondavi Wines, Sandals Resorts’ newest wine partner.

All rooms and suites boast chic contemporary furnishings including mahogany four-poster beds, handmade rugs, flat-screen televisions, lavish bathrooms, and luxurious indoor and outdoor soaking tubs. Sandals Barbados also offers the services of the chain’s award-winning Red Lane Spa, featuring six new treatment rooms including five private (single and double) treatment cottages scattered throughout the gardens for an intimate spa journey. The resort will also roll out an all-new Night Blooming Jasmine couples massage available in guest rooms or in the spa during evening hours.

Other features of the new resort include a state-of-the-art fitness center offering a variety of fitness classes, three swimming pools including an oceanfront main pool with swim-up bar and expansive whirlpool, the longest crystal lagoon river pool in the eastern Caribbean, stretching 560 feet with access to swim-up suites and nearby whirlpool and a European pool featuring French Riviera-style cabanas with elegant chandeliers and baroque-style sofas.

Sandals’ signature land and watersports, Club Sandals service, PADI-cerified scuba diving, Weddingmoons and much more are also on offer at the newest property.
